The story

The Battle of the Alamo on March 6, 1836 ended with the deaths of approximately 200 defenders including Jim Bowie and Davy Crockett, and Mexican commanders reportedly refused orders to demolish the chapel walls after the battle because of apparitions witnessed by their own troops. The site is administered by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, who have documented staff sightings of a figure in the Long Barracks and strange occurrences in the basement. The area beneath and around the current chapel is believed to contain the remains of defenders who were cremated on the grounds.
