The story
The Sallie House stands at 508 North 2nd Street in Atchison, Kansas — a modest mid-nineteenth-century brick home, once of the Finney medical family, that became the Midwest's paranormal flashpoint in the 1990s when tenants Tony and Debra Pickman reported escalating phenomena: objects flying, fires starting, and physical harm — scratches and burns on Tony — documented on national programmes from Sightings onward, with the telling naming 'Sallie', a little girl of legend said to have died under a doctor's knife, though no record of such a death exists and researchers note the story's growth in the telling; darker interpretations of the activity followed, and the house has stood vacant since, operated by the city's tourism arm for day tours and overnight investigations that draw visitors worldwide. All claims — the girl, the harm, the demonic readings — are presented here as the house's reported telling, prominent and unproven.
