Overview
Wolfe Manor in Clovis, California, began as a grand 1920s estate house and, like many big houses of its era, was converted mid-century into a sanitarium and convalescent hospital, decades in which patients lived and died within it — a documented institutional past that seeded everything after. In the 1990s an owner ran it as a celebrated Halloween haunted attraction, 'Scream If You Can', until neighbourhood pressure closed it, and in the 2000s it became a fixture of paranormal television, with investigators and visitors describing shadow figures in the corridors, voices, screams attributed by legend to the sanitarium years, cold spots and a hostile presence in certain rooms.
