Local Legends

Light of Saratoga

Saratoga, TX

The Light of Saratoga — the Bragg Road ghost light — appears down a dead-straight dirt road through the Big Thicket of southeast Texas: a glow that swings, approaches and vanishes, reported for generations and never conclusively explained. The road is signposted 'Ghost Road' by the county itself.

The Marfa Lights

Marfa, TX

The Marfa Lights have glowed, split and danced over the West Texas desert since ranch-hand reports of 1883 — America's most famous mystery lights, watched nightly by crowds from an official highway viewing centre east of town, studied by scientists, and never conclusively explained.
