The story
The Bell Witch haunting of 1817-1821 is one of the most thoroughly documented cases of paranormal activity in American history — even President Andrew Jackson allegedly visited and left in the middle of the night after a disturbing encounter. The Bell family farm, now a private heritage site, includes a limestone cave where the entity reportedly retreated between its interactions with the family. Visitors to the cave report unexplained cold drafts even in summer, the sound of whispering and, according to a small number of accounts, physical contact with an unseen presence.
