The story
The Bullock Hotel was built in the mid-1890s in Deadwood, South Dakota, by Seth Bullock, the town's famous first sheriff, businessman and friend of Theodore Roosevelt, and a figure of the Wild West later dramatised on screen, on the site of a hardware store he had run that burned down. Now operating as a hotel and casino in the historic, gold-rush-era town, it is widely reported to be haunted by Bullock himself, who died in 1919, with guests and staff describing a tall figure in period dress, the strong sense of being watched, items moving, their names being called, cold spots, and lights, the elevator and electronics behaving oddly.
