The Bates Motel & Haunted Hayride runs each Halloween season at Arasapha Farm, 1835 North Middletown Road in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania — three attractions grown over 35+ years into the country's benchmark hayride event: the Haunted Hayride itself, a 25-minute wagon ride through the farm's dark forest past a hundred-foot drive-through asylum, a full-scale New England church, a dinosaur-filled cavern and more pyrotechnics, its owners boast, than a Kiss concert; the Bates Motel haunted house, a Victorian mansion of computer-controlled animatronics and close-quarters acting; and the Revenge of the Scarecrows corn trail — some 75 actors and Hollywood-grade sets nightly, ranked number one in America by USA Today, CNN Travel and Hauntworld across the years and a Travel Channel fixture. It is a commercial scare attraction, the flagship of the platform's Haunted Hayrides category, not a claimed haunting — the farm's real history is cheerful agriculture.
