Overview
The Mizpah Hotel opened in 1907 in Tonopah, Nevada, during the silver boom that briefly made the town one of the most important in the state, and was for a time among the tallest and most luxurious buildings in Nevada before the mining declined and the hotel eventually closed; it was restored and reopened in 2011. Its signature ghost story is the 'Lady in Red', said to be a woman killed on the fifth floor long ago and now associated with that floor, where guests report finding pearls left behind, sensing a presence, hearing whispers and experiencing small unexplained events. Other stories attach to former miners said to have died in the area and to children. The hotel embraces its reputation.
