Local Legends

Haywardville (Middlesex Fells)

Stoneham, MA

Boston's Middlesex Fells hide Haywardville — a rubber-mill village that thrived and vanished when the reservation came in the 1890s. Cellar holes and dam traces line Spot Pond's brooks, and Fells telling adds lantern lights and voices to the evening woods.
