The story
Built in 1926 to house tuberculosis patients at the height of the epidemic, Waverly Hills treated thousands of patients over its thirty-five-year active life and recorded an estimated 8,000 deaths within its walls. The death chute, a 500-foot underground tunnel used to remove bodies discreetly so as not to discourage remaining patients, is the location most frequently cited in paranormal reports. Waverly Hills now operates as a seasonal haunted attraction and year-round paranormal investigation destination.
