The story
Built in 1894 as the Preston School of Industry, this Romanesque Revival landmark in the Sierra Nevada foothills served as a reform school for juvenile offenders until 2011. The building's most significant reported apparition is Anna Corbin, a cook who was found murdered in the basement laundry room in 1950 — her case was never officially solved. The Preston Castle Foundation offers tours and overnight investigations of the building, which suffered significant fire damage in 2008.
